DISNEY'S MOANA JR ~ Disney’s Moana JR is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”

This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.

Celebrating the rich history of Oceania and based on the beliefs and cultures of the people of the Pacific Islands, Moana was developed in collaboration with an Oceanic Trust – a group of anthropologists, cultural practitioners, historians, linguists, and choreographers from the Pacific Islands. The same respect and attention to detail used to develop the film was carried forward in the creation of this stage adaptation.

All those cast in MOANA JR are required to become a KVTA member at some level (minimum $28) by a certain date during the rehearsal process. PLEASE NOTE: Should any updated Health Department or CDC recommendations arise anytime during the course of this production, the KVTA Board of Directors reserves the right to modify KVTA's COVID-19 policy including, but not limited to, mask usage.

Each child should choose one (1) song and one (1) character reading for their audition. Every effort should be made to learn the dance before auditions. We will review the dance each time slot, but we will not take time to teach it fully. Please bring your character to your audition!

Follow this link to read the character descriptions to help you prepare for your audition.

Each auditioner will perform the audition dance. There is a front view of the dance and a back view of the dance. The audition dance has been recorded for the auditioners to learn on their own before the auditions. We will not teach the dance at the auditions. All auditioners are expected to learn their audition dance before the audition and perform their dance without instruction at auditions.

The callback list will be posted on the KVTA website at and on the KVTA Facebook page at after all auditions have been completed, so it could be late in the day. The music and readings for callbacks are listed below. Additional callback materials may be added, if needed.

Saturday, January 7, beginning at 2 pm
• For anyone new to the audition process, callbacks are only for select auditioners that the show staff members (i.e. Director, Assistant Director, Vocal Director, and Choreographer) would like to see again. We will post a callback list after all auditions have been completed. The time of the posting for the callback list will be dependent upon how late we audition. Your patience is greatly appreciated!
• If for any reason you cannot make this callback date, PLEASE email the Director before your audition, or tell the board member working the check-in table at auditions.
• If you are called back, it is highly encouraged that you make every effort to attend the callbacks.

• Some children may be called back to read and/or sing for more than one character.

• Receiving a callback does not guarantee anyone a role in the production. Also, there may be young people cast that did not receive a callback. Not everyone will be called back.

Please print off the material for any character(s) you are called back for by clicking on the links below. You do not have to memorize songs or lines. Bring the material with you to your callback.

The cast list will be posted on the KVTA website at and on the KVTA Facebook page at after all callbacks have been completed, so it could be very late in the evening. Thank you in advance for your patience as we will have many difficult decisions to make!
