Guys and Dolls is a musical comedy that tells the story of con-man Nathan Detroit’s efforts to find new life for his illegal, but notorious, crap game. When his trusty venue is found out by the police, Nathan has to find a new home for his crap game quickly - but he doesn’t have the dough to secure a new location. Enter Sky Masterson, a high-rolling gambler willing to take on any honest bet with a high enough reward attached. Nathan bets Sky that he can’t take the “doll” of Nathan’s choosing with him on a date. When Sky agrees to the bet, Nathan chooses uptight Sarah Brown, head of the Save-a-Soul Mission. Sky thinks he’s been duped, but he’s in for even more of a surprise when his efforts to woo Sarah are so successful that he falls in love with her himself! Guys and Dolls takes us from the bustle of Times Square to the dance clubs of Havana to the sewers of New York City as it demonstrates the great lengths to which a guy will go when he truly falls in love with a “doll.” Guys and Dolls features some of Frank Loesser’s most memorable tunes, including the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament,” the romantic “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” the exuberant “If I Were a Bell,” and the classic “Luck Be a Lady.”
We are excited to bring Guys and Dolls to the Kankakee Stage! We hope that you will audition for this Classic musical. Guys and Dolls is open to auditioners ages 16 years and up, plus one short boy. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. There is a "Character” Role that can be played by a short boy or man. The first practice and meeting will be on Tues. Feb 15th at 6:15 p.m. February practices will include 3 practices per week, including weekend choreography. We will then add an extra dance day per week and eventually go to 5 practices per week in April.
GUYS & DOLLS CAST LIST
All those cast in GUYS and DOLLS are required to become a KVTA member at some level (minimum $25) by a certain date during the rehearsal process. One parent being a member of KVTA does cover the membership requirement for all family members 17 and under. Memberships paid during the 2021-2022 season will also fulfill this requirement.

Our first meeting and read-thru will be on Tuesday, February 15th at 6:15 PM at the KVTA Studios, in the Black Box Theatre. The costumers will be in contact with the cast regarding fittings, so please check your email to get the process started!
