Kankakee Valley Theatre Association is pleased to announce the revival of our non-equity 10- Minute Play Festival with the wonderful addition of a youth division. We are in search of some creative new entries this year in both the adult and youth divisions! Submission is an easy process via email (kvtaplayfestivals@gmail.com) and there is no entry fee.

Our goal is to provide an environment for playwrights to develop and showcase new plays. We encourage all playwrights from 7th Grade to 100+ years old, regardless of experience, to submit their work to the festival. We look forward to introducing many creative works to our community.

Once the April 30, 2021 deadline is passed, a panel will select the best submissions from each division (3 adult and 2 youth). The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place adult division scripts will receive a monetary award and be produced. Award amounts are $100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd in the adult division. There will also be the opportunity for 3-4 additional adult division submissions to have a staged reading. There will be an Audience Choice Award chosen from the staged readings and that winner will receive $25 as well!

The youth division is for talented 7th – 12th grade students. We will offer monetary awards for the 1st and 2nd place winners in the youth division. That’s over $200 in cash prizes!

The productions and readings will take place on the weekend of August 13-14, 2021 at the KVTA Studios. Entries must be received by April 30, 2021. Winners will be notified by May 31, 2021.
