Who hasn’t dreamed of going “Somewhere over the Rainbow”? The flight may be fantastic, but where else could you encounter a girl with dreams beyond her years, a horrific Kansas twister, a pair of ruby slippers and an insatiable witch.

There truly is no place like home as we follow Dorothy as she meets the munchkins, journeys down the Yellow Brick road, and thwarts the Wicked Witches evil plans as she finds her was to Oz.

“There’s No Place Like Home”, so gather up all your courage, use the brain you were given, open up your heart, then click the heels of your ruby slippers and find your way to the KVT’s production of Wizard of OZ .

Additional Information:

 Please check into the material in the Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Limestone, Central, Manteno and Watseka libraries for perusal on or after July 1, 2010.

 Also at the libraries will be a single audition packet containing this general information, an audition form and a copy of the above music selections. You will need to make copies at the library or you can contact the director by email at psutter@i-kan.org. She can email the information to you or you can arrange to pick it up.

 Since 90% of the lines belong to the 8 title characters not all auditioners will not get to read for the parts.

 We anticipate casting approximately 10-15 children as munchkins and/or poppies. Children who are cast in The Wizard of Oz will not be able to audition for Robin Hood.

 Children 16 and under must have a parent/guardian present at registration in order to audition. The audition form must have a parent/guardian signature.

 Auditions will be closed to spectators. Parents of children auditioning (6-16) will need to stay for about 15 minutes at the start of the auditions. There will be chairs in the outer area for spectators to sit and relax during auditions.

 Once the show is cast the rehearsal schedule will be defined and distributed. To assist us in getting the most out of our rehearsals please be honest and list ALL your conflicts from August 11th through October 24th.

 We will try not to have rehearsal on Saturdays, but we will build a few in the schedule just in case we need them.

 Dance rehearsals will start on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Read through will be Sunday, August 15 at 2 p.m.

 NOTE: There will be a special mandatory Saturday and Sunday rehearsal (October 9 and 10) for the following characters only: Dorothy; Wicked Witch; Nikko; the Wizard, Glinda and possibly the Scarecrow and Tin Man. We are hoping to fly some of these characters in the show and if we do, we will be having flying rehearsals with a flying director.
