STRAWBERRY and JAZZ FESTIVAL - June 3, 2013 Bring the whole family to the annual Strawberry Jazz Festival sponsored by the Community Arts Council of Kankakee County 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. June 3 at Gov. Small Memorial Park, 801 S. Eighth Ave., Kankakee. The free event will feature more than 60 arts and crafts artisans displaying handmade items, a wide variety of food vendors and continuous entertainment. An auction, composed of gifts from each vendor, will be held at the Civic Auditorium to raise funds for high school summer art scholarships. Performers will include a dixieland band, several dancing groups, musicians, solo and choral singers, a barbershop group, jugglers, fire dancers, and performances from Kankakee Valley Theatre highlighting our first 50 years of theatre in the Kankakee area.
RELAY FOR LIFE - June 8, 2013
KVTA has once again been asked to perform at the Luminary Ceremony for the Kankakee Relay for Life event. This year the event will be held on the football field at Bishop McNamara High School. Come and join us as we remember those who have fought a battle with cancer. This is a very touching and meaningful ceremony. Come for the evening and help the teams raise money for cancer research.

KVTA 50TH ANNIVERSARY GALA DINNER - August 17, 2013
Members and friends of KVTA will get together to celebrate their first 50 years in the community. The evening will include a sit down dinner, members performing the fun and satirical show Forbidden Broadway, and of course, we will reminisce about our past and talk about our future. VOICES FROM THE PAST - August 25, 2013
This event brings the fascinating history of Kankakee County to life. Participants who visit Mound Grove Cemetery will get a guided history lesson as they are led to gravesites of former residents, portrayed by actors in period costumes, who share something of their lives and times. Visitors will leave with a better understanding of Kankakee County’s rich heritage through the lives of its residents. This event is made possible through the partnership of the Kankakee Valley Park District, the Kankakee County Museum, the Kankakee Valley Theatre Association, and Mound Grove Cemetery. Please wear walking shoes and be prepared for extensive walking through uneven terrain.
It is advised to purchase tickets in advance but they will also be available the day of the event.
FALL ART STROLL - September 15, 2013 The Fall Art Stroll, annually presented by the Community Arts Council and the Kankakee Event Partnership, will be 11a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot (100 S. East Ave). The picturesque Depot Park, with its flower flanked walkways, eye-catching fountain and restored Depot building, will be the scene for more than 80 vendors displaying a variety of handmade fine arts and crafts. There also will be two areas featuring entertainment and almost a dozen booths featuring food fare. Vendors will display at the park grounds, along Merchant Street west of Schuyler Avenue and inside the Depot and other nearby buildings. Entertainment will be performed on stages at both the back and front of the depot building. The delicious variety of food will include soup, kabobs, brats, burgers, hot dogs, barbecue, Italian beef and pulled pork sandwiches, kettle corn, caramel apples, ice cream, baked goods, salsas, jams, jellies and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Come and celebrate the arts in Kankakee at the Fall Art Stroll. Admission is free.
MANTENO OKTOBERFEST LIGHTED PARADE - September 28, 2013
KVTA will once again have a float and walkers in Kankakee County’s premier Lighted Parade. This parade has over 100 entries including the Great Lakes Naval Band, Olivet Nazarene University Marching Tigers, Manteno’s Citizens of the Year, Manteno Chamber of Commerce's Businessperson of the Year and many spectacular lighted floats. It's truly a parade like no other.
